Transcript

  • The film begins in outer space. The title comes up: Toy Story 2. Then green letters appear: "Gamma Quadrant, Sector 4". They disappeared and a blue comet was speeding towards a planet that has rocks on it. It's revealed to be Buzz Lightyear, a space ranger toy flying into the planet's atmosphere. He open his wings to slow himself down as he flies above the ground and then lands in a clearing. He looks around breathing in and out before opening his wrist communicator.
  • Buzz Lightyear: Buzz Lightyear mission log. All signs point to this planet as the location of Zurg's fortress, but there seems to be no sign. Star Command. Do you read me? Why don't they answer? *gasps* It's robots!
  • Laser lights appear on Buzz and he looks up to see millions of robots that are armed with lasers surrounding him. Buzz jumps and uses his own laser on the crystal which blows the robots up and sends him flying into the air screaming, Buzz lands on the ground and runs over to a wall to catch his breath when a monitor looks in his direction and beeps. Buzz jumps and zaps it with his laser, destroying it. Then the ground opens up in a Z shape and Buzz jumps in and when it shuts, his suit glows. He runs along the corridor. In a room, a yellow dot appears on a red screen identifying as Buzz. A figure raises his clawed hand and puts it on a lever.
  • Evil Emperor Zurg: Welcome... Come to me, my prey.
  • He moves the lever back and the lights in the corridor come on making Buzz stop in surprise. Then a wall with spikes appears behind him and moves towards him. Buzz look back and gasps and runs as the wall closes in on him. Buzz manages to jump through a closing door just in time and the spike ram into the door, denting it. Buzz stands up and saw a battery which reads The Source of Zurg's Power. Buzz walk slowly to the bridge which has discs that floats between him and the battery. Buzz jumps and lands on the discs, each one playing a musical note as he does so. Then, the discs fall suddenly, carrying Buzz with them. Thinking fast, Buzz opens his wings around him and then he flies upward.
  • Buzz Lightyear: To infinity and beyond!
  • He reaches the platform and then lands in a clearing. He then reaches to grab the battery but his hand went through it, revealing to be an illusion.
  • Buzz Lightyear: What?
  • It then disappears and Evil Emperor Zurg rises up behind Buzz on a platform.
  • Evil Emperor Zurg: So, we meet again, Buzz Lightyear, for the last time.
  • Buzz Lightyear: Not today, Zurg!
  • Zurg fires his ion blaster at Buzz.
  • Trans. Int. Andy's room
  • It's a video game on a TV screen. The image looms above us like an IMAX movie, but down at the very bottom we se the small silhouette of Buzz Lightyear sitting in front of the TV, playing the game. Buzz holds a huge joystick. Buzz starts shooting back. Two more silhouettes shaped like Rex and Hamm hurry in front of the TV.
  • Hamm: Uh-oh, that pesky Zurg character. Use your time warp cannon!
  • Rex: Really? I would use my terillium shield.
  • Buzz Lightyear: I'll de-moleculize him with my antimatter phaser.
  • Hamm tries to grab the joystick.
  • Hamm: No! Buzz Lightyear wouldn't do that.
  • Buzz Lightyear: I am Buzz Lightyear!
  • Zurg starts firing the blaster at us. Rex shakes Buzz.
  • Rex: He's attacking. Buzz, do something!
  • Trans. Int. Zurg's lair
  • Buzz somersaults over Zurg but just as he landed and turn around to fire his laser, Zurg spins around so fast and shoots Buzz, vaporizing him, leaving his legs to crouch down and fall on the floor. Zurg cackles with triumph.
  • Trans. Int. Andy's room
  • The letters "game over" appear on the TV screen, revealing that the whole thing was only a video game which is played by Rex and Hamm, who's wearing a goldfish ball with sicker darts on his head with Buzz, beside him, watching.
  • Rex: Oh, no! No, no, no, no, no, no!
  • Hamm: Oh, you almost had him, genius.
  • Rex: I'm never gonna defeat Zurg!
  • Buzz Lightyear: Sure you will, Hamm, Rex. In fact, you're a better Buzz than I am.
  • Rex: But look at my little arms! I can't pressed the "Fire" button and jump at the same time!
  • Buzz Lightyear: Woody saved your life, in me.

  • Peddler: *singing* Oh I come from a land / From a faraway place / Where the caravan camels roam / Where they cut off your ear / Where's it's flat and immense / If they don't like your face / And the heat is intense / It's barbaric, but hey--it's home! / When the wind's at your back / And the sun's from the west / And the sand in the glass is right / Come on down, / Stop on by / Hop a carpet and fly / It's another Arabian night! / Arabian nights / Like Arabian days / More often than not / Are hotter than hot / In a lot of good ways / Arabian nights / 'Neath Arabian moons / A fool off his guard / Could fall and fall hard / Out there on the dunes. *speaks* Salaam and good evening to you worthy friend. Please, please, come closer-- Welcome to Agrabah. City of mystery, of enchantment, and the finest merchandise this side of the river Jordan. No? Then perhaps this elegantly appointed fruit basket would be more to your liking...? Ah, I can see that you're only interested in the exceptionally rare. I think then, you would be most rewarded to consider... this.
  • Peddler pulls the magic lamp out his sleeve.
  • Peddler: Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.
  • Another pan, this one slower to left. Again, Peddler rushes to catch up.
  • Peddler: This is no ordinary lamp! It once contained a magical Genie of great power... Ah, that interests you. Perhaps you would like to hear the tale? But it doesn't begin with the lamp.
  • Peddler pours shiny sand from the lamp into his hand.
  • Peddler: It begins on a dark night...
  • Peddler throws sand into the sky, where it forms a starry nightscape.
  • Peddler: *o.s.* ...where a dark man waits, with a dark purpose.
  • Ext. Desert
  • Camera tilts down to find Jafar sitting on his horse and Iago on his shoulder. Gazeem comes riding up to the pair.

  • Gazeem: I had to slit a few throats, but I've got it.
  • Gazeem pulls out half of the medallion. Jafar reaches out for it, but Gazeem yanks it back.
  • Gazeem: Ah, ah, ahhh! The treasures!
  • Iago squawks as he flies by and grabs the medallion.
  • Gazeem: Ouch!
  • Jafar: Trust me, my pungent friend. You'll get what's coming to you.
  • Iago: What's coming to you! Awk!
  • Jafar pulls out the second half of the medallion. He connects them, and the insect medallion begins to glow. Finally, it flies out of Jafar's hand, scaring the horses, and is off towards the dunes.
  • Jafar: Quickly, follow the trail!
  • All ride off, following the glowing speck of light, until it reaches a large dune. It separates into two and the halves plunge into the dune.
  • Jafar: Faster!
  • All that remains are two glowing points of light on the dune. But then the dune begins to rise up, transforming into a giant lion's head, with the glowing points serving as the eyes.
  • Jafar: At last, after all my years of searching, the Cave of Wonders...
  • Iago: Awk, the Cave of Wonders!
  • Gazeem: By Allah!
  • Jafar: Now, remember! Bring me the lamp. The rest of the treasure is yours, but the lamp is mine!
  • Gazeem starts to approach the lion's mouth, which forms the entrance to the cave. He chuckles as he goes.
  • Iago: Awk, the lamp! Awk, the lamp!
  • Now that Iago and Jafar are one, Iago opens up in normal English.
  • Iago: Jeez, where'd ya dig this bozo up?
  • Jafar puts his finger to his lips and shushes him. Gazeem reaches the cave, but is blown away by the roar of the cave's speaking.
  • Cave: Who disturbs my slumber?
  • Gazeem: It is I, Gazeem, a humble thief.
  • Cave: Know this. Only one may enter here. One whose worth lies far within. A diamond in the rough.
  • Gazeem turns to Jafar with a questioning look.
  • Jafar: What are you waiting for? Go on!
  • Gazeem hesitates, then moves one foot inside the cave.
  • Jafar: Well?
  • With great apprehension, he plants his foot down. Gazeem begins to descend the staircase.
  • Gazeem: *o.s.* Oh!
  • Jafar: Yes? Do you see the lamp?
  • Nothing happens. Relieved, he begins his trek again.
  • Gazeem: *o.s.* It's wonderful!
  • Jafar: Bring me the lamp.
  • Gazeem: *o.s.* I've got it, I've got it, the lamp is mine. *chuckles*
  • Then another roar comes. He turns back, but the lion's mouth slams shut and the dune collapse back to normal. All that are left are Jafar, Iago, and the two separated halves of the medallion.
  • Jafar: No!
  • Cave: Seek thee out, the diamond in the rough.
